These exquisite sea snails are blown ashore in the summer north-easterly winds, usually with bluebottles Physalia utriculus which they predate.

    • i am sure you are right sharon, i dont know of any other purple shells … the colour comes from eating the bluebottles, which are big stingers like portuguese men of war.
