The industry on Cockatoo Island has long since ceased. We visited for a spectacular art exhibition, the 17th Biennale of Sydney. You can just see the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background of this photo. It was a rainy day, so this photo from the ferry window as we returned to Circular Quay is rather unclear.
Please find your own “Q” image and join us in the fun! Check it out hereΒ http://flickrcomments.wordpress.com/2012/04/24/a-z-archive-q-challenge/
and here is another one to enjoy, Q is for Quilting
good look-out over your QUAY!
i just added another quay …circular quay in sydney harbour … just for extra interest! and yes it is a good lookout … cockatoo island is quite hilly so it gives a good view π

Your second pic really captures what it looks like from inside the ferry on a rainy day in Sydney! well done!
the photo brings back the whole scene, the family with gorgeous children mucking about, dripping umbrellas, steamy windows … and the hope that rain would ease by the time we docked! thank you for your comment stephen π
I was in Sydney for two weeks in 2010, I think, and enjoyed it immensely. I’m not sure whether I was able to go to this part of the city though. Nice capture. π
Very nice Christine… I too had Quay in mind but fortunately had a couple of other options too π Weather over here is just like your second shot!
Good one! Finding things that start with Q isn’t an easy task. Beautiful photos! The second one is very artsy. How was the art exhibition? BTW thank you for the link to Q is for Quilting. I appreciate it very much! π
Nice shots of Quay! I like how you were able to capture a shot of the ferry through the window and rain.
