This bold painting of a Maharaja’s elephant is on a wall at the City Palace in Jaipur. Elephants carried royalty in Rajasthan, and Jaipur in particular till honors elephants with a special festival every year. All these elephants photos were taken around Jaipur.

thank you for your ELEPHANTs!
especially I like the painting of a Maharaja’s elephant
on the wall at the City Palace in Jaipur
P.S.:
my daughter, an architect, once visited Jaipur and was very impressed.
greetings from Germany …
Love the painting at the top – My neighbours are Hindu so I get to see quite a bit of indian artwork 🙂
i wonder if they make murals too? i love the bold colours and striking shapes!
I love your photos! I remembered these great animals in an elephant show here in Manila. I promised myself and my kids never again to go and support these shows. The life of these elephants are sad in captivity….
Thanks for reminding me why I hated elephant shows…your photos show the majesty of these animals.

Wonderful! I also chose not to ride the elephants, beautiful creatures trudging up and down that hill all day in the heat. They were not put on this planet for that. Wasn’t Amber stunning?
